Lucky the Leprechaun Sculpted Gourd

Just finished up another sculpted gourd for the PFATT Marketplace, Lucky the Leprechaun!

He has been sculpted with Apoxi Pro Sculpt, which is an air dry clay, on a bottle neck gourd.

He his holding a little sculpted cane in one hand and is wearing a big sculpted top hat that has a shamrock on it.

His sculpted vest has shamrocks and swirls painted on it.

All of his features are hand sculpted. He has been painted with acrylic paints, antiqued and sealed for years of enjoyment. He is also been signed and dated by the artist (me)!

A Gnome in Love, Sculpted Gourd

Queen of Hearts Sculpted Gourd

Jingle Stanta is a hand sculpted 10" tall gourd with rusty jingle bells added to his hat.

All of his features have been hand sculpted using Apoxie Pro Sculpt, which is a air dry clay.

He has three rusty jingle bells going up his hat and 3 larger bells with tinsel on the brim.

Here's three more sculpted Santa gourds I just finished. All three of these are BIG gourds! One is on a vintage oil lamp base and he has an old pocket watch on his side. The blue snowflake gourd has a old opticallense on one eye. The thirds one is holding a sculpted teddy bear and has a big pipe.

Sculpted Santa Gourds and Other Santa's

Here are a few pictures of some Santa gourds, some Santa salt & pepper shakers and a Santa funnel I just finish up. These have all been sculpted using Aves Pro Sculpt.
All of these Santa's are at Candy Cane Lane, Weber County Fairgrounds, Ogden Utah until Saturday at four. I will post some more pictures Thursday or Friday of some Santa's that I will be taking to Unique Boutique in Idaho Falls, Id. for a show on Saturday.

Sculpted Santa's in Progress - Gourds, Salt and Pepper Mills and Vintage Funnel

Here is some pictures of my WIP's I am working on. There are a few sculpted gourd Santa's, sculpted Santa salt and pepper mills and even a sculpted Santa vintage funnel. One of the sculpted Santa gourds is on an old vintage oil lamp base. I should have these all painted by next week, I will post finished pictures when they are done.

My Little Grandbaby

We had a little Grand Daughter born in August, at 26 weeks, she weighed 1.7. She is now 37 weeks and weighs 3.3 and will be coming home in a week or two. Stanley Idaho Show

If you have never been to Stanley Idaho, up in the Sawtooth mountains, you would not beleive how beautiful it is. The below picture is one of the views I had out of the front of my booth.

This show was the first show for the new grid work display. The grid work is so much better than my old wood display especially with the wind that kicked up every afternoon in Idaho.

I am now done with all of my summer items, got to get busy on Halloween. I will try to post a bunch of Halloween pictures for you to see.

Some new items finished for Stanley, Idaho show.

I had this old sifter down the basement and decided to paint this great Zebra face on it. I have a great big oil can that I am putting another Zebra on but it is not quite done yet.

This bowl is made out of a carved gourd. I cut out the top of the gourd and then cut out places here and there between some of the leafs. It is painted with several different shades of green, with yellow, gold, and mauve highlights.

This is another carved gourd bowl that I just finished. I painted two rows of daisey on it.

This is a very unique vintage teapot that I painted a dragonfly with cattails on. It is based in ivory with several shades of orange and browns in the sunset. The cattails and dragonfly body are all black, the wings are a very pale yellow with black details.
All of these items will be in Stanley, Idaho this Friday and Saturday for the Mountain Mama's show.

All Natural Gourd Birdhouses

These three birdhouse are each made out of two gourds, their body is one gourd and their roofs are a separate gourd, the roofs are wired on. Their shingles and around the entrance are toasted gourd seeds. Their perch and the stick that the hanging wire is attached to are twisty willows. These are all natural except for the coating of polyethylene on the outside to protect it from the weather.

This birdhouse is all one gourd but finished in the same fashion as the three double gourds.

These two birdhouse are small gourds with the roofs made out of torn apart pinecones.

All of these birdhouses will be in Lamoille Nv. this weekend for a show that I am doing.

Sculpted Gourd Frog

This is a great Gourd Frog that I hand sculpted using air dry clay and a real gourd.

Her body is a old wood candle stick, her arms are posable. Her hands are also sculpted, in one she is holding a sculpted bee and the other has a sculpted flower. I made a ribbon rose to put on her head and added a piece of vintage jewerly for the center. I also added a piece of vintage jewerly on the tie at the back of her dress. Her collar is a piece of wired ribbon that I ruffled, the same ribbon is around her waist and the flower on her head is made out of the same ribbon. This a a one of a kind original piece of art. She will be going down to my booth at the Kottage Kupboard, Weber County Fairgrounds this afternoon, this show ends on Saturday, May 7th at 4:00. The next chance to visit my booth will be in Lamoille, Nv. on June 26th and then Stanley, Id. on July 16th and 17th.

Koi Bread Box and Canisters

This is an old tin breadbox with a metal shelf on the inside. I based it in black and the painted some great Koi fish and some lillies on it. It has been protected with a poly acrylic finish for duribility.

I found this set of canisters at an antique show, sanded them all down, based them in black and then painted the same Koi design on them. They also have a poly acrylic finish.
Both of these items will be at The Kottage Kupboard show, May 4-7th, Weber County Fairgrounds, Ogden Utah.

New items for spring

This is a cookie sheet that I painted with a great tree design. There is a hanger on the top and 5 hooks at the bottom to hang anything you feel like.

Here ia a second cookie sheet with a contemporay design painted on it. This sheet comes with 8 magnets with different sayings on each one.

This third cookie sheet is a chaulk board. I have painted some great flowers around the edges.

These last two sheets both have a flower design painted on them and they both have 8 magnets. The above sheets magnets have sayings on them, the bottom sheets magnets are flowers and says Home is where you are loved.

All of these will be at my spring show at Weber County Fairgrounds in May. If you would prefer to buy any of them now they are all $25.00. Just send me an email and we will get you taken care of!

This weekend I got back to painting for this years shows. My first show of the year is the Kottage Kupboard at Weber County Fairgrounds in Ogden Utah, the date of the show is May 4-7th.

Santa Gourd Pedestals

Just finished 7 great hand sculpted Santa gourds on pedestals. Six of the Santa's are on old wood candle sticks, 1 is on an old wood spool. They are all real gourds that I sculpted with an air dry clay. Each has a piece of vintage jewerly added to the brim of their hats, the Santa on the spool also has a vintage bracelet around the base. All 7 of these great guys, plus some big gourds, that I am finishing up this weekend, will be for sale next Saturday (Nov. 20th)at Unique Boutique in Idaho Falls. Another Sculpted Halloween Witch Gourd!!!

Here is another sculpted Witch gourd that I just finished. Don't you just love the stem of this gourd!! I bought some seeds for this type of gourd so next year I'll see if I can grow some.

Her face and the brim of her hat are all handsculpted. I painted her face a dark green and then dry brushed several different shades of green over the dark, Her hat is black with dry brushed stripes. I added some lavendar tulle to her hat and around her neck. On her hat is a vintage shooting star earring. The base is an old candle stick that I found, I painted three fun pumpkin faces on it, some black and white checks and then antiqued it. She will be for sale next week at the Kottage Kupboard, Weber County Fairgrounds.

Halloween Gourds

This is a GREAT large gourd, about 24" around, that I handsculpted a face on and what a great face it is! I also cut the back out of the gourd for candy. Around the opening on the back I added some more sculpted clay. The stem had broken off the gourd so I sculpted him a new one, added a tag made out of a piece of gourd and some vintage jewerly. I based the gourd in a dark orange and then dry brushed a lighter orange over the top to give him a leather apperance.

This is another round gourd that I sculped leaves and tendrils around the top. I used my dremel tool to etch around the edges of his nose, eyes and mouth. I also added a vintage bottle cap for one of his eyes. He is mounted on a vintage candle holder, around 26" tall. The candle holder has four hooks on it, I added four mummy gourds to the hooks. He also has a piece of vintage jewerly at the top of the candle holder.

Both of these gourds, plus more that I am working on, will be at the Kottage Kupboard Boutique, Weber County Fairgrounds, Sept. 29 - Oct. 1. Come on by and see how great these one of a kind gourds look in person, you will fall in love with them, I know I have!

Halloween Hand Sculpted Gourds

I have been having a great time sculpting on some gourds, I haven't sculpted in years so it was great to get back into it, I will be doing a lot more!
In my last post I showed you a picture of my witch in progress. Her she is all painted and ready to go!

Here is a close up of her face, doesn't she have a great mouth!

I added a piece of vintage jewerly for a buckle on her hat band.

She is sitting on a old candle stick I painted. Around her neck is some tea stained cheese cloth and another piece of vintage jewerly. I painted a little wood sign with "The Witch Is In" and attached another piece of vintage jewerly which makes a total of three pieces on her.
She will be going up to my Green River Wy. show in the morning.

I sculpted 9 different gourds into some great pumpkin's, here's one of them. I put him in an old bread pan I painted black. There is a electric candle, a skelton and some fall leaves in the bread pan. Around the pumpkin stem is more fall leaves, a raffia bow and a small piece of vintage jewerly.

These will also be in Green River.

New Items Painted....

This is a great vintage large boiler pan that I painted a Goose, Fly Pole and Fishing Creel on. I found this great vintage pan at the swapmeet, based in in ivory, added a light speckling of brown before painted the sceen on it. This will be the River Arts Festival in Green River Wy. Aug. 20 and 21st.

I also found these two wood paddles that I painted to match the boiler pan. I have attached a hanger on the back so you can hang these on your wall.

This is the beginning of a great Halloween witch. I am sculping her face using paper clay on a real gourd. I have her almost done and will post the finished pictures in the next day or two. I have been doing a variety of gourds for Halloween, they will all be in Green River so come on up and take a look!

New Items Painted

This is a great vintage table with claw foot legs. It is a smaller table, I believe it is a salesman sample table. I have painted a crackle finish on the top for an aged look, I then added a great checker board with some sheep and farm houses.

This is a recipe box that hangs on the wall. The front pulls down revealing an area to store all of your recipe cards in. I painted two great Amish girls on the front sharing a pie. One has a blue dress on and the other is mauve. This would look great in anyone's kitchen.

This is a whimisical table top candy holder for all of your Halloween treats. I will be making some floor versions of these in the next few days.

Here is a picture of my booth that I had on Sunday (June 27th) in Lamoille, Nv. (20 miles outside of Elko). This is my second year doing the show, had a GREAT time! I've done shows for 24 years now and this is the first show that boy scouts unload your trailer, haul it to your booth space and even setup your canopy! Even with the economy the way it is my sales were great.

I painted some great time out chairs with a not so happy bear on it. These are old wood school chairs which makes them very durable.

Everyone seems to love the bear and moose design I came up with last year. Here is a bread box, set of canisters and a letter holder.

Had to show you this beautiful picture! After setup on Saturday we went for a drive up Lamoille canyon. This canyon is soooo beautiful. Waterfalls coming down every where and the entire valley is full of beaver ponds. Would you believe there is even a glacier up there! If you ever want to take a beautiful drive and your in Nv. you need to go up this canyon.

Here is a sneek peek of some Halloween stacking pumpkins that I painted up. I will start displaying my Halloween at The River Arts Festival in Green River, Wy. Aug. 20th & 21st. Stayed tuned for more Halloween pictures coming in the next few weeks.

Rooster's

This are two great vintage coffee/tea pots that would look wonderful in any home.

Here's two great old gas cans, one has ridges and the other is smooth.

My Booth at Kottage Kupboard

My first show of the year is in progress at The Kottage Kupboard at Weber County Fairgrounds, Ogden Ut. The show runs thru Saturday at 4:00. Here is a picture of my booth, it is at the end of the first row when you come into the building.

This is a great little vintage vanity chair that I have painted a cute little rabbit on.

This is another view of my booth. The milk can with buckets on top is covered with the magnets that I paint.

This is a great vintage wooden chair that I restained and then painted three lillies on. It has several coats of varnish on for durability.

It's Raggedy Time!!!

I found this GREAT old highchair at a yard sale a few weeks ago and decided to paint Raggedy Ann and Andy on it. I based it in a red color and then a beige color. I sanded it here and there so some of the red shows through. I then painted Raggedy Ann, Andy and a teddy bear on the seat. This highchair does not have a tray but it is still a great item!

This is a round suitcase (not very old) that I painted the same Raggedy Ann and Andy design on. I added a red bow to Raggedy Ann and also to the handle. What a cute place to hide some of your sewing items or for your daughter to hide some of her doll clothes in.

This is a great vintage suitcase with great insides! Most vintage suitcases you find have water damage inside or smell musty but this one does not! I added Raggedy Ann, Andy and teddy to the front.

All three items have several coats of a polyacrylic clear coat finish for added durability.

All three of these items will be at the Kottage Kupboard, Weber County Fairgrounds, next week.

This is either a short bread box or a wood lap desk/storage box, it is solid wood with a hinged lid. I re-stained it and then painted two great little teddy bears on the lid. The back is around 8" tall and it tapers down to around 4" in the front.

Here is another vintage tin plate that I painted a rock cottage on. This is a special order so it will not be at my first show, but I will have others there for sale.

This is a recycled wood welcome sign from years past. I repainted the entire sign giving it a lot more character. This would look great hanging by your front door!

I'm sorry I haven't posted more pictures, with my first show just 3 weeks away and I have diligently painting!

I painted another great cottage design on two vintage tin plates. This one has a garden path going through a gate up to a very quaint little cottage. Sorry about the glare in the picture, I like to take these pictures outside but yesterday it was snowing!

This is a great heart shaped pink purse that I painted a very cute teddy bear on!

I found this great watering can, base coated it in blue, added some crackle and painted some flowers and blue berries on it. I added some greenery to it to make it a great table decoration.

I painted three vintage tin plates with this great cottage design on them. One plate was a special order but the other two will be at my spring show. I am working on 4 more plates, two with a different cottage and two with a great rooster on them. I will post pictures as soon as they are done.

This is a great white bread box with some tea stained lace on the handle. I added a small vintage frame to the front that says "Faith". This would be a great addition to any kitchen!

This is a vintage roll top bread box that I painted a great blue color and then distressed it. I added a sheep, three salt box houses and a flag that says "Remember". This is a smaller bread box that would fit great on any size counter.

Here are two great black distressed roll top bread boxes that I just finished. For being older bread boxes they are in great shape. They have been painted black, edges sanded and then antiqued with brown. I also finished the two small heart boxes on top of the bread boxes, these would be great for a special little gift for Mom.

This is a vintage magazine holder that I painted white and then distressed. I have tied a beautiful piece of ribbon on the handle that has a gold edge, I added a vintage skelton key and an old earring for a great cottage look.

I painted these two great birdhouse for your front pourch, they are both in a rusty tin square can. The birdhouses are also rusty tin with a grape design painted on them. I have added a twisty vine and a REAL birdnest with wooded eggs. My son climbed up some of our trees to get the both birdnest for me, what a great son!

I am working on some great metal plates with a Thomas Kinkaide type cottage that I am painting on them, I will post pictures of these in a few days. They would of been done already but we went up to my daughter-in-laws family cabin in Island Park over the weekend, had a great time!

This is a vintage cake carier with a metal tray, I have a second one painted with a glass tray.

To top off that great kitchen here is a set of four canisters.

This ia a small wood trinket box painted with some vines. This would be great for that special little girl!

Bears, Bears, Bears.....

Finished up 50 bear magnets, after that many you really get tired of them! This is a new magnet design for this year. I will be starting my Halloween magnets this week. I have to start early because I want to take at least 500 or more to Swiss Days.

I don't have pictures of my sunflower items yet, I will get them posted in a few days.

It's getting yard sale time again!!! I went to an estate sale in South Weber Saturday and found these great teapots. The two big ones will end up being pumpkin candy dishes for Swiss Days. The tapered one I will add a light into the hole of the lid and paint something ???? on it.

Sorry I have posted for a couple of weeks! A great crafter friend, who retired 5 years ago, called me and sold me all of her old unpainted items. I got everything you can think of from cake carries, old oil cans, tea pots, coffee pots, it was great!! Down side I haven't posted pictures of the items I have painted, been busy going through everything I got from her.

I feel like old Mac Donalds farm with the pictures I am posting today! I have painted my chicken items for about 9 years now but I sell out of them at every show!

Here is a set of four wood canisters that have the plastic inserts in them for easy cleaning. They also have a circle in the lids so you can peak in and see what is inside.
I got two great wood breadboxes done.

I also finished two wood letter holders.

Cows, Cows, Cows.......I got 50 cow magnets painted. This is a new cow design for this year. Don't you think there just Moovelous!

I'm working on some great Sunflower items and some bear magnets, I'll post pictures of these over the weekend.

I found this great wicker picnic basket at a yard sale last fall, thought I would finally get it painted for my spring show. I painted the basket a soft blue and then dry brushed it with white. On the lid I painted two groupings of beautiful spring flowers. This would be a great basket to sit by a chair and store your treasures in or use it for a great family picnic!

Chickens, chickens, chickens!!! I painted 50 of my chicken magnets yesterday!

I found this great little childs chair at the DI's the other day. I painted a fun whimiscal design on it. It has been coated 3 three coats of polyacrylic for durability.

I got my paper work all sent off for my Lamoille, Nv. (outside of Elko) show this weekend. This is a great one day show that I had real good success at last year. The show date is June 27th.

The Kottage Kupboard spring show at Weber County Fairgrounds is May 5-8th.

This is a vintage metal stacking picnic tin. I have painted two of these with my chicken design. I wrapped the handle in some homespun black and tan checked material. The inside of each tin has been left natural so you can use them.

Here's two more of my magnet designs. I have 100 of these done!

This is a vintage picnic basket that I have painted a cute cow and sunflower design on. The handles and the inside of the basket is coverd by green and tan homespun material.

A few more new items for spring shows....

Here's a few more vintage, glass, Mrs. Buttersworth bottles. I painted two of each of the above designs.

This is an old coffee pot that didn't have a lid for. I first painted it black and then covered the black base coat with blue. I sanded off some of the blue for an old look. On it I painted a sheep and some vines, it says "We do not remember days, we remember moments". In the top I added some spanish moss, a child size cup and saucer which is painted to match the coffee pot. Inside the cup is a battery powered flicker tea light.

I found this un-painted wood plate at the DI's the other day. I painted clouds, stars and a cute sleepy bear on it, I added a ribbon for hanging. This would be a great addition to any childs room.

Chairs that I painted for two of my Grandaughters for Christmas

I painted a vintage school chair for Hannah for Christmas. It is painted with a light pink base, darker pink and lavendar stripes and then I added some mauve lady bugs. I will paint more of these for my spring shows but the chairs will be different styles, but they will all be vintage school chairs ( I have a ton of these in my craft room).

I found a wood doll highchair at a thrift store two weeks before Christmas, I painted it for Beka and her babies. It's painted light pink with sparkles. I added flowers and a big lady bug. If I find anymore of these I will paint them up for my shows but I don't know if I'll find any.

The first part of next week I will add some pictures of new items I am finishing this weekend.

New items that I painted for the week!

I painted 5 old glass Mrs. Butterworth bottles. Two with the above green sunflower design. One with a blue dress and some whimisical flowers on the apron and two with my black and white chicken design. I also got 3 napkin/salt and pepper sets painted with my chicken design.
This is a great old leather suitcase I got painted with a Raggedy and Mammy on it. I have an old skelton key hanging from the handle.

This is an old leather brief case that I painted a cute bear family on.

New Items Painted for Spring....

Here are a couple of new items that I completed this weekend. I painted a great old suitcase and a Bear and Moose breadbox, I also have canisters and letter holders to match the breadbox. I am working on 5 old syrup bottles, 75 frog magnets, 2 stacking metal picnic/lunch containers with chicken's on them and a picnic basket with sunflowers and cows. These should all be done by the end of the week. They will all be at my spring show at Weber County Fairgrounds.

I love old Christmas decorations and thought I would share a few that I put up in my home. I have three pieces of a vintage, made in Italy, nativity set that my Mom had when I was little, sure wish I had the rest of the set and the manager that my Dad made! By my front door I have a pair of vintage light up Santa's that really remind me of my childhood. My tree is decorated with glass ornaments and the majority of them are vintage, the red tear drop shaped ornament was made in Germany it's about 5" long with a dent in the front. I found a set of old bells that I fell in love with, here is a picture of the gold one. The red striped ornament was mine was I was a little girl so I know it is 50+ years old.
This is the time of the year I really love but it is also the time of the year that I really miss my parents!

I didn't get much painting done over the Holiday so I apologize for not posting any pictures! After tonight I will have all of my Christmas decorations up so I will be back to the art room tomorrow!

I got my booth setup yesterday for my last show of the year. Attached are a few pictures of some of the items that I have painted. I always make sure I have new magnets for every show, here are some of my Christmas ones. I found an old pair of ice skates in their box, I put the skates and the front part of the box on to a wreath, added some spray glitter and a little greenery in the skates. I also painted a pair of black skates which hang on a wall and some great snowman cookie plates. Stop by my booth and check it out!

Welcome to my new blog! Tomorrow I setup for my last craft show for this year. The "Kottage Kupboard" will be at the Weber County Fairgrounds from Wednesday Nov. 18 to Sat. Nov. 21st. My booth is located on the east wall at the end of the first row as you walk into the building. I will post pictures tomorrow of my booth and some of the items I painted for the show.
